Sheena is based in Edinburgh and has been teaching children & adults privately for ten years. She tutors at her home in central Edinburgh.
Violinbabies and Sheena
Violinbabies has proved very useful with my youngest violin pupils. This is a fun approach to learning the violin which leads naturally to traditional notation and composition.
My thoughts on teaching music
In my teaching I aim to teach overall musicality as well as how to play the violin and other music skills. I like to tailor my lessons to individual pupils. Happy to work with pupils just for fun, or working towards exams.
Musical experience
I have been playing the violin for over thirty years and gained a Bachelor of Music during my studies at Napier University. I studied teaching as part of my course.
I have a lot of experience of playing in amateur orchestras as well as leading the second violin section in Scottish Sinfonia, my current orchestra.
I have been teaching the violin privately since 2008 and have experience of teaching a wide variety of ages and different standards from complete beginners to Grade 6 standard.
