A fantastic way of teaching musicianship/note reading at a very young age. It is the missing link that The Suzuki Method needs.

My thoughts on teaching music

I believe that lessons should be fun and motivating.  Children need to have a goal and a sense of accomplishment. Practise is a must, so it should be developed as a routine and children must be taught how to practise. At a young age, parents must help with the practise and be the teacher at home.

Musical experience

I started playing the violin at the age of four with the Suzuki Method.  I attended the University of Michigan School of Music and received a Bachelors and Masters Degree.  I taught Stringed Instruments in schools for four years before moving to The Netherlands.  It was there that I ended up playing violin in André Rieu’s Johann Strauss Orchestra for ten years.  It was an incredible experience!

I moved to the UK after accepting a job with The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland teaching Strings in the Fort William area.  I later moved to Sussex teaching full time upper strings for the West Sussex Music Service.  I enjoy freelancing in local orchestras in my spare time.
