Cellobabies and Judith

Some people know they love the cello right away. It’s the sound, it’s the shape, it’s the size, it’s the feelings and meanings it can express…That’s what they want to play. With CelloBabies they can have fun from lesson one, not only playing a real instrument but learning the skills that will lay the foundations for lifelong music making. It is an engaging, straightforward approach that is easily adapted and “grown up” for older beginners.

My thoughts on teaching music

I believe music is life enhancing and lessons should be the same. I hope my pupils will find that they can join in all sorts of musical activities because of all they learn at their cello lessons. I want them to feel that they can’t wait to get the cello out at home to try out their new skills and play lovely pieces.

Musical experience

I was fortunate that my musical neighbour recommended the cello for me at the age of 9. I played on every possible occasion at home and in the county orchestras and was a founder member of the National Scout and Guide Symphony Orchestra.

I qualified with a B.Ed Honours degree at Bath College of Higher Education where my training equipped me for both classroom and instrumental teaching. I was a full time primary class teacher for many years and taught all sorts of musical groups including the school orchestra which played in Chichester Cathedral.

After leaving full time primary teaching I updated my cello teaching skills by taking the fast track CT ABRSM.

I currently play in a string quartet, the Mid Sussex Sinfonia and the Burgess Hill Symphony Orchestra and teach the cello at my home in Haywards Heath.
