I am looking forward to meeting both children and adults, and sharing with them the wonder of music, and the extraordinary building of confidence that comes with exploring and mastering an instrument.

Cellobabies and Jennifer

Cello Babies is a unique and ideal combination of the best of music education, with the best of what we know about how children learn, and what feeds them, musically, and intellectually.

My thoughts on teaching music

I aim for happy students who grow through learning, and who gain real skills at their own pace.

Musical experience

Cellist and conductor Jennifer Bailey’s musical life has seen her conduct opera in San Francisco, symphonies in Adegeya, play tin whistle in a bush band in Western Australia, cello in a piano trio in Oxford, viola in a Renaissance Fiddle Band in Berkeley, California, and recorder in a Baroque Orchestra in the Netherlands.

A keen believer in the power of music to develop and sustain children and adults alike, she has taught all ages from infants through to undergraduates and beyond to adults, most recently as a Kodály Musicianship Instructor in Aberdeenshire Schools, and in online musicianship lessons to gifted students around the world.

She began her cello studies at the age of 17 in Perth, Australia, where she studied with Willem Van de Vis and Michael Goldschlager, and later studied in Scotland with James Halsey at the North East Scotland Music School (NESMS).

She holds a first class degree in music from the University of Western Australia, and has studied at HAMU (Prague), The Conservatory of Astrakhan, and the University of Oxford.
