Violin & Violababies and Caroline

Teaching very young children to play a string instrument needs a very creative, flexible and fun approach.

String babies provides just this, giving children the opportunity to lead and take the helm.

This is great for confidence and overall self esteem.

My thoughts on teaching music

Caroline currently has a busy schedule teaching all levels of violin and viola pupils but is specializing in young beginners, providing a firm and certain start.

Many of her former pupils have achieved much success afterwards, often reaching music conservatoire and professional level.

As a qualified string babies tutor, Caroline can provide the enjoyment, stimulation and attention grabbing teaching, necessary for children of such a very young age.

Musical experience

Caroline was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. Her teachers there included Jurgen Hess and Miles Baster.

She then moved onto London for postgraduate study with the National Centre for Orchestral Studies based at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London.

She started off her career teaching for the London boroughs of Ealing , Hounslow and Bexley whilst continuing with a busy, freelance playing career.

In 1995 Caroline joined the string team at Bromley Youth Music Trust, the music service for the London Borough of Bromley.

She continues to teach for them in various schools and coaches their beginner to intermediate string orchestras on a regular basis.

Caroline has played with numerous orchestras and also given violin and piano recitals with her husband, pianist Maxim Rowlands.
