Cellobabies and Allyxa
Using the Cellobabies method with children shows them how to enjoy music, have fun, and produces happy confident musicians. The children are keen to come to their lessons, and enjoy showing me what they can do.
It’s a joy to watch them developing good technique, music reading skills and security of pitch and rhythm so naturally.
My thoughts on teaching music
“I believe wholeheartedly in giving pupils the best possible start to their playing by teaching sound technique and enjoyment of music. Each pupil is different and therefore it is important to have a flexible approach. I particularly enjoy teaching young children, though am happy to take pupils of any age.”
Musical experience
Allyxa began playing the cello at the age of 7. She can clearly remember looking at it and thinking “I want to play the cello because it’s big”. Fortunately this wasn’t a passing phase, and she went on to play with the Cheltenham Junior Orchestra, North Glos. Schools Orchestra, and the Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra. She was also an active participant in chamber groups and quartets.
She credits Bobby Kok who was one of her earliest teachers for her technique and joy of playing both classical and contemporary music. While she chose initially to specialise in business rather than music, she has always been a keen musician and teacher, playing with local groups as a freelance player.
She is committed to professional development in her musical career and has studied through to LRSM performance level. She also is committed to teaching and is an active participant in various courses to expand her range of teaching techniques.
